Lightroom 4.3 Now Available

Lightroom 4.3 is now available as a final release on Adobe.com and through the update mechanism in Lightroom 4.  The goal of this release is to provide additional camera raw support, lens profile support and address bugs that were introduced in previous releases of Lightroom.

Bugs Corrected in Lightroom 4.3:

The following bugs that were part the Lightroom 4 releases have been corrected. The team appreciates the very detailed feedback the community has provided on Lightroom 4 and we’re excited to correct a number of issues experienced by our customers. These issues have been FIXED:

• Autolayout produces a Book with the correct amount of pages but without any images added. Please note that this only occurs when the filter is set to “Unused”.
• Uploading large panorama images to Revel caused Lightroom to crash.
• The “Unused” filter was not properly filtering images within the Book Module.
• Lightroom hangs while changing the Exposure adjustment by typing in a numeric adjustment. Please note that this only occurs when the Enter key is not typed to confirm the adjustment and another Develop adjustment is tried. Also please note that this only occurs on Windows.
• After creating a new folder in Lightroom, attempting to undo that folder can sometimes cause a corrupt catalog.
• An image can be simultaneously flagged as both a Pick and Reject at the same time.
• Using multiple colors within a single text cell within the Book Module can cause Lightroom to crash.
• Unable to post photos to Flickr when the image filename contains an apostrophe.
• The active Develop slider, the one controlled with + and – keys, defaults to Exposure when moving from one photo to another.
• Catalogs from Photoshop Elements 11 would not update in Lightroom.
• Site titles longer than 70 characters created in the Web Module can cause Lightroom to freeze.
• Cell padding linking lost between sessions.
• Deleting the top image in a stack causes the entire stack to disappear.
• Tethered capture fails when turning camera off and back on. This also can occur if the camera goes to sleep and then wakes. This occurs only with Canon cameras and on Mac only.
• Cropping an image to a small size sometimes causes the image in Develop to become blurry.
• AVCHD video formats are not properly importing into Lightroom. Please note that this only occurred on Mac.
• Enable Profile Corrections does not auto find iPhone 4 profile.
• Crop doesn’t update in second monitor if navigator panel closed. Please note that this only occurred on Mac.
• TIFF files can experience tonal shifts within Lightroom.
• Mask overlay are displayed in filmstrip and navigator. They should only be displayed in the Develop Loupe.
• Video files created on an iPhone 4 flickers when played in Lightroom.

Adobe Camera Raw 7.3 release candidates now with Leica R lenses support

Adobe Lightroom 4.3 and Camera Raw 7.3 release candidates are now available for download. The new Camera Raw 7.3 version has lens profiles for Leica R lenses that can be used on the new Leica M with the R to M adapter. Here is the complete list of supported lenses:

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.2 released, now with Leica D-Lux 4 support


The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.2 update includes these enhancements:

Additional camera support for the Canon EOS 5D Mark II, Canon PowerShot G10, Panasonic DMC-LX3 and more**
Includes several corrections for issues introduced by the Lightroom 2.0 release

**With the release of Lightroom 2.2, there is an important exception in our DNG file handling for the Panasonic DMC LX3, Panasonic DMC FX150, Panasonic DMC FZ28, Panasonic DMC-G1 and Leica D-LUX 4. In this release the native, proprietary files from these cameras can only be converted to linear DNG files. A linear DNG file has gone through a demosaic process that converts a single mosaic layer of red, green and blue channel information into three distinct layers , one for each channel. The resulting linear DNG file is approximately three times the size of a mosaic DNG file or the original proprietary file format.

This exception is a temporary solution to ensure that Panasonic and Leica's intended image rendering from their proprietary raw file format is applied to an image when converted DNG files are viewed in third party software titles. The same image rendering process is applied automatically in Camera Raw 5.2 and in Lightroon 2.2 when viewing the original proprietary raw file format.

In a future release Adobe plans to update the DNG specification to include an option to embed metadata-based representations of the lens compensations in the DNG file, allowing a mosaic DNG conversion. In the interim Adobe recommends only converting these files to DNG to allow compatibility with third party raw converters, previous versions of the Camera Raw plug-in or previous versions of Lightroom.

 Adobe Creative Suite (CS) 6 ,This package of software includes the most popular graphic design programs used in the industry including Photoshop (photos), Illustrator (graphic design), InDesign (books, brochures, and newsletters), Flash (animation), and Dreamweaver (web design).  These are great programs for teens to learn if they are interested in photography, web design, graphic design, interior decoration, and other creative fields.



There is an educational version of the suite that is provided at a reduced price to make it more affordable for children.

Updates to the Program
InDesign has been updated to allow for the creation of publications that are friendly for tablet devices.  New features include the ability to zoom, add slide shows, audio, and video.  It has also been updated to allow for the creation of eBooks.

Flash now has been updated to be able to be used on the iOS devices through an additional add on feature in the program.

Muse is a new program that was added to the suite.  This program allows users to create HTML websites without having any knowledge of programming code.  It allows the novice design to create a professional looking website with minimal experience.

How to Help Your Child Learn CS6
There are many ways that your child can learn and explore the use of the Adobe CS6.  Many individuals like to just play around with the tools and see what they can do.  Other children may be more interested in learning the program through the use of a hands-on textbook that they can use at their own pace.  A good book to learn Photoshop would be The Adobe Photoshop CS6 Book for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby.  I really enjoy the Adobe books written by Scott Kelby because they are in full color, provide real life examples for how to use the programs, and have very detailed directions and explanations of how to use the program.

Another way they can learn the different tools of the program is to watch videos online.  There are many websites that show the functions and how to use them in everyday graphic design.

Once they learn the basics of the program you can also encourage your child by giving them creative ideas of design items they could create like create a logo for a brand of cereal that they made up, or create a movie poster.  You could also encourage them to edit family photos from an event or vacation, create the family reunion newsletter, develop flyers for the garage sale, or use the programs to develop some very fun projects of special interest

Photoshop Touch is Now Available in a Version Specifically Built for Phones
So many people here claim to use Linux, and do not realise just HOW MUCH WORK it would take to adopt software that has been based on PC and Mac FOR DECADES for a completely new platform. It would take years of development, and last time I checked, Linux was installed on LESS THAN 2% of computers worldwide. Does that sound like a reasonable investment to you?

Photoshop Touch is now available in a version specifically built for phones! Following up on the very popular tablet version, Photoshop Touch for phone is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play for US $4.99.

This app shares an almost identical set of features with the tablet app, in an experience designed for smaller screens. I am particularly excited about this new app because I always have my phone with me. I can be creative anywhere using the powerful tools in Photoshop Touch, even when I don’t have my tablet with me.



Much like the tablet version, Photoshop Touch on the phone has core Photoshop features like layers, advanced selections tools, adjustments and filters.
