Photoshop Tutorial: How to Create Bubbles

Photoshop Tutorial: How to Create Bubbles

Photoshop is an extremely diverse program because there are literally tons of different things you can do within the program itself. You can edit pictures and create logos, graphics, web banners, and more. You can also create pictures and elements from scratch.
One of my favorite thing to do in Photoshop is create bubbles by simply using just a few tools. So in this tutorial, I will show you how to create bubbles in Photoshop. It's relatively easy, you just need to know how to work with the Brush Tool. The tools we'll be using will include the Paint Bucket Tool (twice), Elliptical Marquee Tool, the Eraser Tool, and the Brush Tool. All these tools are extremely easy to use and require little effort, but together they create a really neat effect.

So let's begin!

Step 1) Open up a black canvas in Photoshop by going to File > New. Set the canvas size as 500 x 700 pixels.

Step 2) Now we're going to make the background a nice aqua color, so select a cool sea blue color from the scrolling color tool box on the right hand side of the screen. Just simply move the scroll bars and find the color you want.

Step 3) Now take the Paint Bucket Tool. And click on the white canvas. This will change the color of the background to the aqua color you selected.

Step 4) Next we're going to create the round bubble shapes. Using the Elliptical Marquee Tool, make different sized circles on the background. Make sure the tool is selected on the plus setting so that all the circles can be made, otherwise the circle you just made will disappear as soon as you click somewhere else. This setting can be found on the top of page and is called the "Add to Selection" button.

Step 5) After you create your different size bubble circles, take the Paint Bucket Tool again and set the color to white. Click inside one of the circles and they'll all turn white.

Step 6) Next, take the Eraser Tool from the vertical menu bar and select a feathered, fuzzy brush that is about 10% less the size of the circle. Make sure the Opacity is set to 100% and click inside the circle. Adjust the size of the brush depending on which circle you're working with. This will make your bubbles look more so transparent.

Step 7) Now select the Brush Tool and set it to a smaller size and the color white. Swipe your brush over the left hand corner of the bubble. The purpose of this step is to create the glare on the bubble (see picture).

Step 8) Click outside the selected area using the Lasso Tool and then you're see your bubbles without the selection.

Then you're done. And you have great looking bubbles in just a few easy steps and by using a few easy tools!
