Today, I'm going to show you how to make your own pattern using the Pattern Stamp Tool in Photoshop CS6.

Use a Pre-Existing Image

There are a number of ways to create your own pattern. You can open a pre-existing image and make a pattern from it.

Just choose an image, select the area you want to use for your pattern with the Rectangular Marquee Tool. Now, go to Edit and select "Define Pattern." It's that easy.

Make Your Own Design

You can also create your own design, using tools in Photoshop. I'm going to create my own design to show you how easily it can be done. I am going to start by creating a document that I can use as the base for my pattern, by going to "File" and selecting, "New."

I am going to make it 250px by 250px, so it's relatively small. Now, I am going to use the Elliptical Tool to create a pattern of random circles. You can really use any shape that you like. I am going to make them different sizes.

If you like, you can go to the menu above the image and change the color of the shapes. Now, I am going to create a new layer, change the color here at the top menu, and create circles with a different color.

Turn it into a Pattern & Have Fun

Now that I have my design, I'm going to turn this into a pattern by going to the "Edit" menu and selecting, "Define Pattern…" I am going to name it and I have my own custom pattern. In order to show you how to use the pattern we just made, I'm going to create a new document by going to "File" and selecting "New." I am just going to select a standard US paper size.  '

Next, I will select the Pattern Stamp Tool from the Tools Panel on the left side. It's located beneath the Clone Stamp Tool. Go to the top menu and select the newly created pattern. If I click on the document, I can see my pattern.

If I click and drag, the pattern will be repeated as if it is being painted onto the page. Now, I am going to undo that and show you a few additional ways to modify this tool.  You can change the size of the tool at the top. You can change the mode. You can also change the opacity of the tool and other attributes.

We went over a few of the basics, but I suggest trying out a few of the options from this menu. They can help you achieve really interesting variations on your pattern.

Adobe Mobile as Primary Device for Collaboration, File Sharing, & Presentation

Adobe Mobile as Primary Device for Collaboration, File Sharing, & Presentation

Adobe Systems, Inc. released Adobe Connect® 9 with a bounty of leading web conferencing features. These new web conferencing tools further support managers and instructors ability to standardize performance and outcomes.

Adobe Connect 9 provides a full range of web conference management functions, including:

Ability to host web meetings from mobile primary devices
Customizable templates to design webinar landing pages and emails
Real-time advanced analytics to gauge effectiveness of training and marketing campaigns
But what's happening now that is driving adoption? The immediate use of web conferencing and its applicability that had previously been put to the test is having a profound effect.

In unusual and unexpected places as one might think, such as impromptu meetings across military installations, or conveyance of up-to-date insurance policy regulations across an industry-wide network is demonstrating that web conferencing has become the accepted platform, for collaboration and learning, either by choice or out of necessity.

Outlined on these pages are the Adobe Connect 9 release features.

Mobile 2.0

Mobile as primary device - what does this mean? You can utilize a smart phone or tablet to host web meetings, webinars or eLearning in Adobe Connect 9.

Your mobile facilitation includes whiteboard and annotation tools, document sharing from tablets as well as cloud-based storage and virtual classroom manageability.

A typical example could include training a sales agent in transit. On the go - packed with desktop features, a training or sales manager can get agents prepared for their first call.

Or an instructor who is called out of town can host the online course anywhere as long as there's Internet connectivity.

Web meetings and webinars will be deployed on mobile devices as primary devices because users require the flexibility and mobility to manage these web browser functions. And there is no reason to think this can't be done.

Adobe Connect for mobile devices have been available on iOS, Android, and Blackberry devices for some time and so users may upgrade to these enhanced hosting capabilities with Connect Mobile 2.0 (Summer 2012).

Adobe's unique architecture for conversion of content on the server without requirements for application installations such as PowerPoint delivers a faster presentation.

As fast as 2 kilobytes per second, this advantage delivers a 'superlight' experience, said Adobe's senior technical evangelist, Peter Ryce, as compared to screensharing that other products do, and that use way too much bandwidth.
Adobe Connect 9 can produce a catalog of upcoming events.
Adobe CQ is the integration of web content management tools from Adobe's family of products. These easy-to-use web design tools give web organizers greater control of event microsites and email landing pages.

Event microsites are individual pages to give your event marketing campaigns their own look and feel - as well as extend your company's brand. Standard and customizable templates can be quickly produced using drag and drop capabilities, including images, banners, as well as building a desirable web page layout with ease, for multiple events and catalogs.

Marketing campaigns can be better managed behind the scenes using automated event triggers and filters. Accessible from Adobe Connect 9 forms, marketers can monitor goals for targeted registration groups at predefined times.

Site analytics, described in more detail next, give marketers the ability to drive registration, lead generation, and success factors for participant engagement.

Marketing departments using Adobe CQ, site analytics, and event hosting from mobile or desktop, can produce more predicable outcomes. These capabilities for managed end-to-end solutions, meaning the application-specific functions are embedded in the end host, can provide seamless and self reliant capabilities for event management in field enablement, marketing, and training.

Adobe Releases Presenter 9

Adobe Releases Presenter 9 – Simple, Intuitive Software for Effective Communication with a Virtual Audience

Today, Adobe released Adobe Presenter 9, software that helps users communicate more effectively by developing engaging desktop videos and eLearning courses from within Microsoft PowerPoint. Presenter 9 is a simple yet powerful tool that can introduce trainers, knowledge workers and educators to the worlds of video and eLearning – even if they’re unfamiliar with video editing software. Presenter 9 and the recently released Adobe Captivate 7 is a powerful one-two punch for eLearning content creation.
Presenter 9 supports Windows 8 and Microsoft Office 2013 to ensure software compatibility for early adopters. Additionally, the latest enhancements minimize the time, effort and cost associated with producing desktop videos. For example, users can now simultaneously capture video feeds of themselves and their screen content, then easily mix and edit the footage to create impactful visual content.. Once done, finished videos can be published to YouTube and Vimeo with a single click or integrated into PowerPoint presentations.
Other key enhancements include:
Drag-and-drop elements, which streamline the process of inserting interactive games, quizzes and learning modules to deliver richer courses
Accessibility support, which makes achieving Section 508-standard compliance easier than ever before
Automatic closed captioning, which leverages a new speech-to-text conversion feature which saves  time and increases outreach
Leaner Intervention, which helps track the progress of individual learners and identify who may need course correction or additional support

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6 Release Date Rumors and News

Fresh off the release of Photoshop Lightroom 5, we’re starting to track the news and rumors for the Lightroom 6 product launch.  Although it’s too early to pinpoint an exact date, looking at Adobe’s release cycle, we’re pretty sure the next version will be out sometime in the summer of 2014, with a public beta version expected around March 2014.

Lightroom 6 software from Adobe is expected to be announced next summer with the beta expected to come in March 2014.
- Rumored Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6 Release Date
We based this expected release on when the last versions came out as well as looking at where Adobe is headed with their minor updates. Here’s a timetable of the last versions and when they became available:

Lightroom 5.0 – Released on June10, 2013 (this is the current version).
Lightroom 5.0 beta – Available on April 15, 2013.
Lightroom 4.0 – Released on March 5, 2012.
Lightroom 3.0 – Released on March 23, 2010.
Lightroom 2.0 – Released on July 29, 2008.
Lightroom 1.0 – Released on February 19, 2007.

Adobe has historically been pretty good at honoring customers with a free upgrade if fallen under their grace period. Just keep in mind that this does not apply to beta releases, only for orders made in the period between the official announcement date and shipping date (usually between 2-4 weeks). You can read more about the Adobe free upgrade policy.

It’s too early to tell what’s coming for sure, but the most glaring feature missing from the latest version of Lightroom is the content-aware technology we’ve become accustomed in Photoshop CS6 and in Photoshop CC (Creative Cloud). We also hope that Lightoom will continue being available as a stand-alone perpetual product unlike what we saw happen to Creative Cloud with the entire shift to Creative Cloud.

Photoshop Elements 12 Release

Photoshop Elements 12 Release Date Rumors & Expected Features

When it comes to Elements, Adobe’s release date cycles have historically been very predictable and have always released annually around the same each year. We expect to see all of the Elements 12 products, including Photoshop Elements 12, Premiere Elements 12 and the bundle of the two coming in September 2013.

Elements 12 software from Adobe Systems is expected to be announced and available for purchase in September 2013.
- Rumored Adobe Photoshop & Premiere Elements 12 Release Date
Adobe has been pretty good in offering the new version right in time for the holiday shopping season, and is often already 50% off by the Black Friday weekend. See below for the release date history for the all f the previous versions:

Elements 11 – This is the latest version. It was released on Sep 25, 2012.
Elements 10 – Released in September 2011.
Elements 9 – Released in September 2010.
Elements 8 – Released in September 2009.
Elements 7 – Released in October 2008.
Elements 6 – Released in October 2007.
Elements 5 – Released in October 2006.

We absolutely hate buying and then finding out that two weeks later a newer release is out and we would have to pay for an another upgrade to have the latest new features. That’s why most software companies, including Adobe, have a technology guarantee; if you purchased a license during the last 30 days before the new version went on sale, then you can qualify for a complimentary upgrade to the newest version. Adobe doesn’t go out and notify customers who purchased single-user licenses about complimentary post-announce upgrades so you’ll have to just verify your eligibility with their customer service team. If you ordered at Adobe.com, be sure to have your order number ready. Just note that not all purchases from resellers will qualify for the free upgrade, so just be sure you know if the store is included in Adobe’s upgrade protection plan.

We like Photoshop Elements 11 because it already does most of what Photoshop CC/CS6 can do but at a fraction of the price. It can handle common raw files without problems (i.e., Nikon & Canon), has the power to do about 90% of what the more expensive Photoshop CC can do, and uses a lot less resources so it’s a perfect laptop photo editing program when working wirelessly. But it’s not perfect! In the upcoming Elements 12 update, we’d love to see it available as a 64 bit application vs. the current 32 bit so that it could handle a larger number of edits/photos much faster. The current version does not fully support 16 bit images and there is still no proper curves adjustment tool. Most of all, we would really like to see the “Organizer” part of Elements improved so that it’s much easier to use (just like in Lightroom).
