Photoshop Elements, using a quick solution to your photos

I will use Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 for this article, because I think it still has many useful features that the new versions offer these days. You should always be able to follow this guide if you have an older or newer version of the software, the principles are still the same. In this article, I will explain how to quickly fix a photo in easy steps.

I guess you already know how to take your photos from your camera and put them on your computer. If you need help with this, your instructions of the camera help. This guide tells you what to do next.

Open Photoshop Elements and quickly select Edit photos from the options that appear when the program is being downloaded. Now you should be presented with a blank screen in which to work in. In the top left of the screen, click where it says File, then click Open. This will bring up a box asking you to find your photo you want to edit. If you know where the picture is, go to it, then click OK. Your photo should now be displayed in front of you. So now we have to adapt, and if you look at the right side of the screen there is a list of options for you to edit your photo.

The first case deals with the red-eye effect, when someone's photo is marred by a person with evil red eyes. This option corrects this problem. If you hit the Auto option box Red Eye, as with all the options, the computer will try to do for you, but not always with the best results. First try, but if you do not get the desired results, press Reset on top of your photo, as this will restore the image of what it was originally. There is also a slider that lets you adjust manually by clicking and holding the mouse button on the small gray ball over the bar in the Options dialog box, and then moving to the left or right. If you're satisfied, release the mouse button, and then click the green check mark on the top of the Red Eye options box. This will save your changes.

Then, if you wish, change the light levels or contrast or by clicking on the Auto button, or manually drag the sliding bar. Remember, you can always undo your changes by clicking on the red circle next to the green check mark at the top of the box options. If you are satisfied with your changes, click the green check mark, it will save your changes. Otherwise, you can always click on the Undo option in the Edit menu at the top left of the screen if you do not like the changes you have made.

Adjust the color levels and sharpness levels in the same way, and once you are satisfied with your changes, and the picture is complete, you must re-register your image. Do this by going to the File menu at the top of the screen, then select Save As. Click the Format button and select jpeg file for best results, and then type the name of the photo and click OK or Save. If you have not configured your host image, a box will now appear asking you to do so. Do not worry about it right now. You can hit Yes and follow the instructions, or just hit No for now, you can do it later, and it does not affect what you do now.

Congratulations, you should now have a better picture. I always find that it's great to just play with the settings, change everything to see what happens. You always have the option of starting from scratch, and as long as you do not save your original image, you can always start ......
